At Little Wildling we are passionate about nature play.

At our Bush Kinder program, we believe nature is the richest classroom of all. Rooted in our core values of respect, creativity, connection, and care, Bush Kinder offers children the opportunity to learn through meaningful, hands-on experiences in the natural world.

Our sessions are designed to foster life skills and confidence through practical, nature-based activities. Whether it's campfire cooking, identifying local flora and fauna, using real hand tools safely, mastering knots, or building shelters, children are encouraged to explore, inquire, and grow in a nurturing and adventurous environment.

We focus on learning that engages the whole child—head, heart, and hands—cultivating resilience, cooperation, and a deep respect for the environment. Through rhythm, storytelling, and purposeful play, our program supports each child's emotional and physical development, helping them build a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

Our commitment is to provide a space where children feel safe, free, and connected—to themselves, to others, and to the land. We honour each child’s natural curiosity and creativity, and we guide them gently through experiences that build independence, self-regulation, and a lasting love for the earth.

The You Yangs Regional Park is a striking granite range rising from the surrounding volcanic plains of Victoria. Known for its rugged beauty and breathtaking views, the You Yangs offer a rich and diverse landscape that inspires exploration, discovery, and connection to nature.

The park features a mosaic of eucalyptus woodlands, rocky outcrops, and open bushland, providing an ideal environment for sensory and physical development. Its natural terrain—with sloping trails, uneven surfaces, and rocky climbs—offers children opportunities to build balance, coordination, and gross motor skills through authentic movement and adventurous play.

Home to a remarkable array of flora and fauna, the You Yangs support over 200 native plant species and abundant wildlife including kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, and a wide variety of birds such as wedge-tailed eagles and kookaburras. Children engage in rich learning experiences as they begin to identify local plants, track animal footprints, and observe nature’s cycles up close.

The park also holds deep cultural significance, forming part of the traditional lands of the Wadawurrung People. With ancient stories, scarred trees, and culturally important sites throughout the area, the You Yangs provide a powerful space for sharing Indigenous perspectives and nurturing respect for Country.

With abundant natural resources—sticks, stones, leaves, bark, and earth—the You Yangs become an open-ended playground that encourages creativity, resilience, and connection. It’s a place where children can build shelters, create nature art, climb, dig, and play freely, immersed in the rhythms and wisdom of the natural world.
