Bush Kindy Torquay – Expressions of Interest Now Open!
Our You Yangs Bush Kindy program has been met with an incredible response, and thanks to the overwhelming interest from our community, we're excited to begin planning a brand new Bush Kindy program in Torquay!
We're currently inviting families to register their Expression of Interest (EOI) to help shape this new program. At this stage, we're gathering information about which days work best for families before confirming our weekly timetable.
How to register your interest:
Simply complete your checkout and select all of the weekdays you would be available to attend. While we can't guarantee a specific day, the preferences of the majority of our community will play a significant role in determining our final schedule.
As always, our Bush Kindy is a parent-attended, nature-based learning experience where children can explore, create, build resilience and confidence, and develop meaningful connections with the natural world through child-led play.
Register your interest today and be part of bringing Bush Kindy to Torquay!
What to Expect
Our Bush Kindy is a parent-attended, child-led outdoor learning program designed for children aged 3–5 years, with younger and older siblings warmly welcomed to attend and participate alongside the family. We believe children thrive when families learn together, and our mixed-age approach helps keep siblings connected while creating a supportive community for parents and caregivers.
Each session is thoughtfully planned while allowing plenty of space for children's curiosity to lead the way. Experiences may include:
- Nature-based sensory and creative activities
- Bush walks and opportunities to observe local wildlife
- Loose parts play, cubby building and problem solving
- Storytelling, songs and group games
- Risky play and tool use that builds confidence and resilience
- Seasonal crafts and nature-inspired provocations
- Opportunities to bush cook and learn practical outdoor skills throughout the year
No two sessions are ever the same, with each week inspired by the changing seasons, children's interests and the unique natural environment around us.
The Benefits of Bush Kindy
Research continues to show that regular time in nature supports every area of a child's development. Our Bush Kindy provides opportunities for children to:
- Develop confidence, resilience and independence through meaningful challenges.
- Strengthen gross motor skills by climbing, balancing, lifting and exploring natural landscapes.
- Build creativity, imagination and problem-solving skills through open-ended play.
- Develop social skills and empathy while working alongside children of different ages.
- Foster a lifelong connection with nature and an understanding of caring for the environment.
- Improve emotional wellbeing through unhurried time outdoors in a calm, natural setting.
For families, Bush Kindy is equally valuable. It offers a chance to slow down, connect with your child, build lasting friendships within the local community and enjoy quality time outdoors together.
We can't wait to bring our much-loved Bush Kindy experience to Torquay and welcome new families into our growing community.
