There is something special about sharing food made with your own hands. Our Old school food swap is a chance to slow down, connect with your community, and exchange homemade goodness with other local families.

Whether you've been baking for years or have just harvested your first basket of veggies, everyone is welcome. Bring something you've lovingly made or grown, and head home with a wonderful selection of homemade treasures created by others.

Our food swap will be held at Balyang Sanctuary at 10am, with limited tickets available (even though it’s free)!

A Dish for a Dish

Bring along one or more homemade or homegrown items to swap, such as:

  • A homemade meal or family favourite dish
  • Freshly baked bread
  • A plate of homemade sweets
  • Sauerkraut or fermented vegetables
  • Homemade pickles
  • Jam or preserves
  • Fresh eggs from your chickens
  • Seasonal fruit and vegetables from your garden
  • Honey from your own bees

The idea is simple- take as much as you bring!

Please Label Your Item

To help everyone swap safely, please clearly label your contribution with:

  • Your name
  • The name of the item
  • Any common allergens it contains:
    • Soy
    • Dairy
    • Egg
    • Gluten
    • Nuts
    • Fish

Bring the Whole Family

Just like our nature playgroups, this is a relaxed, family-friendly gathering. While the adults browse, swap and chat, we'll have a small selection of nature-inspired activities to keep the wildlings happily occupied.

There will also be picnic rugs spread out for families to settle in, enjoy a cuppa, share conversations, and spend a slow morning together.

Whether you leave with a loaf of fresh sourdough, a jar of homemade jam, or simply a few new friendships, we hope this becomes a beautiful tradition celebrating community, generosity, and the joy of sharing.
